The commercial intercourse between China and Malaysia has experienced a long history, which can be ascended to the Tang and the Song Dynasty of China. 600 years ago, Zheng He led the commercial fleet to Malaysia several times, which reinforced the relationships between the two countries.

 

On May 31, 1974, China and Malaysia officially established diplomatic relationship. Since then, the bilateral relationship has been smoothly developed, and the economic and trade cooperation has been continuously expanded. In recent years, the bilateral trade has grown swiftly. In 2002, the trading volume achieved US$ 14 billion, which made Malaysia top one trade partner of China among the ASEAN countries. In 2003, the figure broke up to 20 billion US dollars. At the same time, the cooperation in mutual investment and construction contract area also flourished obviously.

 

The Economic & Commercial Section of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, is one of the representative offices of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia. The consular area of the Section includes Sarawak and Sabah, these two states as whole was called East Malaysia. In the consular area, the main mission of the Section is to carry out policies and development strategies of economic and foreign trade of the People’s Republic of China and to promote the economic and trade cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and East Malaysia at the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

 

With friendly relationshipcontiguous location and complementary economic and commodity structure, we deeply believe that the bilateral economic and trade cooperation would have a broad prospect.

 

We shall do our best to perform our function and ardently provide consulting service for the enterprises of the two countries.
